Overview:

Professor Dr. Eva-Maria de Oliveira Pinto was invited to deliver an in-person lecture on Wednesday, November 1, 2023. The lecture was part of the Master’s Program “Music Education in Formal and Informal Environments”, specifically in the course titled “Applying Psychology and Sociology in Music Education Research and Practice.”

The topic of the lecture was “Music as an Intangible Cultural Heritage. Musicological and music pedagogical aspects – exemplified by German organ building and organ music”.

During the lecture, Professor Eva- Maria de Oliveira Pinto  provided students and faculty with advanced knowledge and insights into the integration of psychology and sociology in music education research and practice. The interdisciplinary nature of music education, particularly the intersection of musicology, music pedagogy, psychology, and sociology was illustrated.

Case studies which combined the approach from Music Education and Ethnomusicology and Heritage Studies, with a particular focus on German organ building and organ music, demonstrated practical applications of theoretical concepts in music education, aiding students in connecting academic theories with real-world practices.

Professor Tiago de Oliveira Pinto engaged in an insightful dialogue that  highlighted Music as an integral part of intangible cultural heritage.
